Stanford Scandinavian Society (ScanSoc) was founded in March 2025 by Alexander Tindlund ‘26 (Norway) and Elias Schmieder ‘27 (Sweden/US). Before ScanSoc, Scandinavian students at Stanford had been talking for a long time about starting an official Scandinavian club. It finally happened after Alex returned from studying away at Oxford University, where he was inspired by Oxford’s Scandinavian Society. We soon did our first Sittning, which was a smash hit, and established partnerships with Nordic companies in Silicon Valley.

We are a community of students from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, and anyone who is interested in Scandinavian/Nordic culture!
